HARLEM. Regarding Gen. Peter Pace's views on
homosexuality: The idea of recruiting openly gay individuals is
dishonorable to all the military's great traditions.  The "don't
ask, don't tell" mentality is perfectly fair, considering the
circumstances. If you're so desperate to join the military, then it
shouldn't be too hard to keep your personal preferences to
yourself. The objective of the military is service and nothing
more.

F
ull Letter, Prior to Metro's Edits:

I
would like to make a comment regarding General Peter Pace's
views on homosexuality
and that the idea of recruiting openly
gay individuals is dishonorable to all
of the military's great
traditions.
The fact of the matter is that this should not be an
issue right now, not with so many people Americans and
innocent middle eastern bystanders being killed overseas.

The "don't ask, don't tell" mentality is perfectly fair, considering
the circumstances. If s
omeone is so desperate to join the
military
and participate in war actions, then it shouldn't be too
hard to keep your personal preferences to yourself.

The objective of the military is service and nothing more.
Note: Each letter will have a published version, followed by the original version.
Often when a letter is sent to the editor of a newspaper, it's re-written in a form
that will all it to be perceived the way the paper's Editor in Chief would like their
readers to perceive it.  I have offset this practice by providing both versions of
each letter (even if the difference is grammatical or punctuation).

NEW YORK: I just wanted to comment on the media's coverage
of the Virginia shootings, including Metro's coverage. I
understand you need to sympathize with the victims of the
shootings as it's kind of a requirement if you want to keep
readers and gain more readers; however, the reports you guys
are making about the shooter himself are unacceptable.

Full Letter, Prior to Metro's Edits:

I
just wanted to comment on the media's coverage of the
Virginia Tech Shootings, specifically Metro's coverage.  It's
appalling that the media continues to verbally beat the shooter
down to a pulp without knowing anything about the individual,
except that he went ballistic and started shooting up his school.
You all completely throw away any concern for what might have
been done to the individual or his psychological state and throw
out farce that "he's just a disturbed asshole" or something
similar that can be published without backfire.

I understand that attacking this individual is necessary for your
organization to keep and gain readers, but seriously, reports on
the character of the shooter when you know absolutely
NOTHING about his situation is unwarranted and anyone with a
right brain will see past your bullshit.  Are you telling me that no
one ANYWHERE on planet Earth can say anything good about
this individual?  Was he really THAT bad?  No wonder he
tweaked.
These letters are not the opinions of Norcross Media and may have been
written/published to inspire debate and advance our culture.
