James passed away on June 15, 2022 at 11:11 AM.

He was a king. He was family. He was my friend.

I adopted James 13 years go when I saw him in a cage at an animal rescue pop-up in Manhattan's Upper West Side. He was in distress and crying, and didn't understand why he was in a cage. I took him home that day as a permanent foster. One of the things I'm proud of is that I got him to trust humans again, and he became the single-most popular cat that my friends, guests, and clients, all loved. Whenever I'd have a visual artist over to the apartment, whether it be a filmmaker, painter, or mixed-media creative, they'd always comment on how perfect and gorgeous James was.

James has appeared in many of my films, including FRACTALS, LIPSTICK LIES, and my short experimental SNOW. He was my little movie star!

 

To honor his memory and life, I'm asking for donations to made to Ready for Rescue. This is the rescue group that brought James to us, and we couldn't be more thankful for the 13 years we had with him.
