Sociopolitical Parallels in Science-Fiction

Comparing and contrasting various sociopolitical themes that emerge in works of science-fiction, across film, television and literature.

The spirit of this presentation is rooted in a quote from Isaac Asimov: "Individual science-fiction stories may seem as trivial as ever to the blinded critics and philosophers of today, but the core of science-fiction, it's essence, has become crucial to our salvation, if we are to be saved at all."

Herman Melville and Me

How I worked with a professor at SUNY to create a four advanced credit independent study focused solely on Herman Melville's masterwork, "Moby-Dick", the literature it included, and the field trips I created around it (specifically a visit to New Bedford, MA).
